Currently, devices that get disconnected without logging-out don't get properly removed from the swarm. If this happens, messages will continue to be queued to be sent to that device, but never get retreived.

On the combined network status update news feed, embed a small Silvelight applet to enable push updates. The applet would connect to an update server using TCP or UDP and receive updates from that server. It would then use the DOM bridge to call a local javascript function that would display the update to the user.

Two modes will be available to clients for connecting to the swarm: push and poll. Push-based messaging will utilize UDP, and poll-based messaging will make the client periodically contact the server for new messages. Polling will have to be have to be often to make sure chat messages don't sit around to long as this does not look good.
